Floor finish experiment with found materials:

The idea was to create an alternate and cost-effective solution of floor finish, for lower-income communities. The first step of the experiment started with creating a small tile of 1' X 1' dimension. Materials to explore with was broken tiles, marble, and a shell.

First, a frame had to be made to give the tile a shape. The shape was filled with  a mixture of 4 parts sand and one part cement. reinforcement was placed on top, and another layer of sand cement mixture was spread.

Broken tiles, marbel, and even a shell was collected, and was created a pattern with those.

The gaps between the elements were grouted with white cement paste, and cleaned with a cotton cloth.
